We now have over 40,000 passenger EVs in the State!
As of December 2025, there were 40,611 registered EVs in Hawaii, an increase of 5,369 vehicles (15.2%) over December 2024. This represents 3.8% of the state's 1,080,373 registered passenger vehicles.
Electric freight vehicles (now at 1,354) represent 1.7% of our 79,694 freight vehicle fleet.
Adoption is accelerating across the state, with very positive YoY growth. This is very positive, but more must be done to accelerate adoption. Hawaii consumes nearly 40 million gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel each month, and gas and diesel-powered vehicles account for approximately 93% of registered passenger vehicles.
