EV Adoption in Hawaii - We’re over 37,000 passenger EVs!
As of June 2025, there were 37,767 registered EVs in Hawaii, an increase of 5,219 vehicles (16%) over June 2024. This represents 3.5% of the 1,077,533 registered passenger vehicles in the state.
Electric freight vehicles (now at 1076) represent 1.4% of our 78,861 freight vehicle fleet.
Adoption is accelerating across the state, with very positive YoY growth. This is very positive, but more must be done to accelerate adoption. Hawaii consumes nearly 40 million gallons of gasoline and diesel each month, and gas and diesel vehicles represent approximately 93% of the registered passenger vehicles.
