Hawaii EV Association

Accelerating Hawaii’s transition to a sustainable transportation future.

We have over 41,000 passenger EVs in the State!

As of April 2026, there were 41,822 registered EVs in Hawaii, an increase of 4,630 vehicles (12.4%) over April 2025. This represents 3.9% of the state's 1,082,686 registered passenger vehicles.

Electric freight vehicles (now at 1,470) represent 1.8% of our 80,295 freight vehicle fleet.

Adoption is accelerating across the state, with very positive YoY growth. This is very positive, but more must be done to accelerate adoption. Hawaii consumes nearly 40 million gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel each month, and gas and diesel-powered vehicles account for approximately 93% of registered passenger vehicles.
