Hawaii State EV Bills
The Hawaii Legislature 2021 session is underway. Several bills designed to increase EV adoption and accelerate our transition to clean transportation have been introduced. We will be seeking support from EV owners and supporters from across the state to encourage our representatives to support these bills.
100% Clean Ground Transportation by 2030. Ban of new gas car sales by 2030.
State fleet electrification by 2035. Zero-emission vehicles for new state fleet purchases starting 2022.
EV Parking and Charging Rules. Increase in parking stall requirement and enforcement.
EV Charging Infrastructure Funding. Fees on gas car purchases and a surcharge on high-end gas cars.
Rental Car Fleet Mandate. 100% by 2035.
Rental Car Surcharge. Funding for the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission.
EV Charger-Ready. Charging infrastructure requirement for New Multi-Unit Dwelling and commercial buildings.
Electric Mopeds. Ban on gas-powered mopeds by 2023.
New EV License Plates. Fundraising for the Polynesian Voyaging Society.
