As of May 2024, there were 32,187 registered EVs in Hawaii (+26.4% over May 2023). This now represents 2.9% of the 1,082,191 registered passenger vehicles in the state.
Adoption is accelerating across the state, with very positive YoY growth. This is very positive, but more must be done to accelerate adoption. Hawaii consumes nearly 40,000,000 gallons of gasoline and diesel each month, and gas vehicles still represent about 94% of registered vehicles.
