NDEW 2024 with Big Island EV

Our Hilo NDEW event was held on October 5 at the Prince Kuhio Plaza. We were blessed with sunny (!) weather and a great turnout of local EV owners. We had a steady flow of attendees and engaging conversations about electric vehicles. This event was at a visible parking location at the mall, and it attracted many eager to check out the latest EVs and learn about ownership.

Big Island EV members shared their knowledge and stories, addressing common questions about EV costs, charging infrastructure, and overall driving experiences. Informative materials from Plug In America and the Electric Vehicle Association (EVA) helped the public understand the wide array of electric vehicle choices and details regarding charging.

We had a good lineup of EVs at the event:

  • BMW i4

  • BYD

  • Fiat 500e

  • Ford Lightning and Ford Mach-E

  • Hyundai Ioniq5

  • Kia Soul EV

  • Nissan Ariya and Nissan LEAF

  • Rivian R1T

  • Tesla CyberTruck, Model 3, Model S, Model X, and Model Y

The Tesla CyberTruck and Rivian R1T were especially popular, drawing in those curious and interested in cutting-edge EV designs.

Mahalo!
As usual, our Big Island EV Ambassadors and members were invaluable. They shared their personal stories on ownership, charging, and the unique aspects of EV ownership on the Big Island.

Ringo, one of our Big Island EV Ambassadors, captured the event’s energy in this video.
