Hawaii NEVI Chargers now with NACS Connectors!
Kahului NEVI Hub
Hawaii’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) - funded DC fast chargers on Oahu and Maui have been upgraded with North American Charging Standard (NACS; aka Tesla) connectors. All future NEVI stations will be similarly equipped.
Each NEVI hub will be configured as follows:
(2) 150 kW stations, each with Combined Charging System (CCS) and NACS connectors
(2) 150 kW stations, each with CCS and CHAdeMO connectors.
As NACS becomes the North American standard, more EVs are being released with NACS ports.
Here are some of the latest EVs with NACS ports:
General Motors: Cadillac Optiq, Optiq-V
Hyundai/Genesis: Ioniq 5, Ioniq 9, GV60, GV70
Kia: EV6, EV9
Lexus: RZ, ES
Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class
Rivian: R1T, R1S
Tesla Model X, Model S, Model Y, Model 3, CyberTruck
Toyota: bZ
Hawaii has nearly 41,000 registered EVs, with growth of about 15% annually. With 11 NEVI stations planned statewide, the state is contributing to the backbone of charging infrastructure needed to support Hawaii's energy transition goals.
