That’s a wrap - National Drive Electric Month 2025

September 12 - October 12 was National Drive Electric Month, a celebration of electric vehicles and their role in enabling our transition to a more sustainable energy future. One of the most effective ways to help others make the switch to an electric vehicle is to hear about the many benefits of EVs from actual owners and to experience one firsthand. This is what Drive Electric Month achieves across the nation.

This year, Hawaii EV and partners hosted events across Hawaii to raise awareness of the numerous benefits of electric cars, trucks, motorcycles, and other vehicles. Many mahalos to our volunteer EV ambassadors, local sponsors, and national organizers for making these events happen. Special thanks to our Governor and Mayors for declaring Drive Electric Month in Hawaii.

Our Events

Kauai Event

Kauai EV had a successful event at the Kukui Grove Center in Lihue.

Our ambassadors and local EV owners, along with Kauai County, brought EVs to the event, which drew the interest of the general public.

We also observed good foot traffic from the shopping center, thanks to the vehicle display's prominent placement. We had a good mix of vehicles, e.g., Kia EV 6, Tesla Model Y, Tesla Model 3, Tesla Cybertruck, and Subaru Solterra.

Oahu Event

The Hawaii EV Association and Tesla Hawaii Club, in partnership with Drive Electric Hawaii and Ulupono Initiative, hosted a special event on September 13 at Pearlridge Center to celebrate National Drive Electric Month.

The community gathering aimed to highlight the many advantages of electric vehicles (EVs), including environmental benefits and lower operating costs.

Attendees had the chance to get up close with a wide range of EVs, chat with current owners, and explore educational booths. Read more

Hawaii Island

Big Island EV co-hosted the fourth annual He Ala Pono EV and Sustainability Fair at the Prince Kuhio Plaza in Hilo on September 27. The event included tabling by Hawaii EV and several local organizations involved in climate, sustainability, and resilience, as well as an outdoor EV show. You can read more about the event here.

Maui

Maui Nui EV held its event at the University of Hawaii Maui Campus on October 11. It drew local EV owners and community members eager to learn more about the benefits of electric and hybrid vehicles on Maui. Here’s a scene from the event.

National Drive Electric Month is presented by Plug In America, the Electric Vehicle Association, the Sierra Club, EVHybridNoire, and Drive Electric USA.
