Drive Electric Week 2024

 

Hawaii EV successfully celebrated National Drive Electric Week (NDEW) with meet-ups across the state. The events, a collaboration with local chapters, Drive Electric Hawaii, Hawaiian Electric, Kauai Island Utility Cooperative, and other partners, promoted the importance of sustainable transportation, particularly electric vehicles, in accelerating our transition to a clean, sustainable future. Kauai EV held its event on October 5 at the Koloa Library in Koloa. They had “great weather and a strong turnout from local EV owners and members of the public. Critical stakeholders in Kauai’s sustainable energy future, such as representatives from the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative, were also present. Christina Kaser from the County of Kauai brought along the County's Subaru Solterra.“

Maui Nui EV held its event at the University of Hawaii Maui Campus on October 5. It drew together EV enthusiasts and community members eager to learn more about the benefits of electric vehicles on Maui. As a result of the event, we have eleven new Maui Nui EV members. The Drive Electric Week Oahu event at Pearlridge Center on October 5 was a fantastic success, thanks to a collaboration between Oahu EV (the newest chapter of Hawaii EV) and Drive Electric Hawaii. Strong community attendance and enthusiastic engagement from EV owners, vendors, and local sustainability advocates showcased the vibrant electric transportation future on Oahu.

Big Island EV held two events this year.

Its NDEW event was held on October 5 at the Prince Kuhio Plaza in Hilo. The weather was great, and there was a steady flow of guests. Many inquired about EVs, charging, and general ownership. You can read more about the event here.

 

Due to scheduling constraints, Big Island EV’s main NDEW event (He Ala Pono EV and Sustainability Fair) was held on October 19. It combined a display of some of the latest EVs with booths from several local organizations involved in sustainability, climate, and resilience.
